▸ Step-by-Step Process

Create or Log Into Your ISC2 Account

Go to isc2.org and log in — or create an account if you don't have one yet. Critical: your name must exactly match your government-issued ID, including middle names and spacing. No nicknames. A mismatch means you'll be turned away at the test center with no refund.

Register and Pay the Exam Fee

From the Certification menu, select CISSP, choose your purchase option, and click "Buy Now." The standard exam fee is $749 USD. Payment options include credit card, debit card, and PayPal. If you have a voucher code, enter it at checkout for a $0 purchase.

Schedule via Pearson VUE

After checkout, visit the Courses and Exams section of your ISC2 account. You'll be redirected to Pearson VUE (now Pearson Professional Assessments) to pick a test center and date. You can also choose online proctored testing if you prefer to test from home — confirm your internet reliability before selecting this option.

Confirm and Save Your Appointment

Once you confirm your appointment, Pearson VUE sends a confirmation email with your exam details, location, and exam-day instructions. Save this immediately. Your scheduled exam also appears in both your Pearson VUE dashboard and your ISC2 Courses and Exams section.

365-Day Window Once scheduled, you have up to 365 days to reschedule and sit. After that, your fee is forfeited.
💸
Reschedule / Cancel Fees $50 to reschedule. $100 to cancel. Changes must be made 48+ hours out online, or 24+ hours by phone.

Arrive 30 Minutes Early If you arrive less than 15 minutes before your exam, you may forfeit your seat and your entire fee.

Bring Two Forms of ID Your first and last name on both IDs must exactly match your Pearson VUE registration.

No Phones at the Center Effective October 2025, phones and recording devices are prohibited. Pearson VUE has enhanced screening protocols.

No-Show = Full Forfeit If you miss your appointment without rescheduling, the entire exam fee is forfeited. No waiting period to re-register.

U.S. Military Veterans: If you're eligible for Montgomery GI Bill benefits, the VA will reimburse you for the full $749 exam fee — regardless of whether you pass or fail. Contact your VA education benefits office before registering.
